The City of Knoxville has concluded the process of updating city codes.
The city has worked through this process for two years and approved the amending of the final five codes in this process at their meeting last Monday night. City Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons stated during the meeting that some of the codes had not been updated since the 1950’s. Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch says he wants the city to be more flexible for those wanting to improve it.
“Whether it’s parking, parking requirements, old homes, whatever the case may be it’s just taking a look at all those residential areas in ways that we can be more flexible for people wanting to improve the community which I think is a great thing.”
