The Indianola City Council appointed Bob Lane to the vacant Indianola City Council position Monday evening in a special meeting, after Eric Martens withdrew from consideration. Lane and Martens were the finalists out of five candidates who applied for the position to the council and were considered at the last meeting, but neither candidate received the required four votes by council. Lane was sworn in immediately by Indianola Mayor Steve Richardson.

The council also held a discussion regarding the Kentucky Ridge Development. The developer, Inception Group, have a development agreement with the city, and intend to build a mixed residential/commercial space near Jefferson Ave in Indianola. The group notified council they had businesses who planned on locating to the area, on the condition of a traffic light being installed at the Kentucky/Jefferson Ave intersection, which would be paid through via TIF funds which is estimated to cost approximately $700,000. The council gave direction to city staff to begin negotiations with the developers regarding the project and the amount paid by the city.

The council also received a budget presentation before going into closed session.
