
The Melcher-Dallas Track and Field Squads went to East Union and the girls were 6th while the boys placed 8th on Monday. The girls brought back several 3rd place finishes with Trista Hansaker winning bronze in the 100 with a time of :13.79, and the 200 with a time of :28.78. Coach Amy Stuart tells KNIA Sports Hansaker is trying to use the competition to get better in the bigger meets, but knowing that her real competition is still on the horizon.
Stuart: “Run against good people, and we don’t have to worry about those 2A girls and keep in mind who her real competition is and get going to see what we can accomplish at the end of the season.”
Also mining bronze for the Saints on Monday was Amber Addington in the 3000 in a time of 13:57.17, Gabby Overgaard in the shot put with a toss of 33 feet three inches plus the 4×800 relay and distance medley relay also took 3rd place, each. For the boys, the Saints had the 4×100 relay team of Eric Kirkpatrick, Austin Remster, Tucker Branson, and Colby Schrader place 5th in a time of :52.56. The girls are scheduled to travel to Central Decatur on Thursday.
