The Indianola City Council appointed Bob Lane to the vacant Indianola City Council seat in a special meeting on Monday, filling the at-large council seat that was left open when Mayor Steve Richardson was appointed to the post. Mayor Richardson tells KNIA News after the last meeting, the council couldn’t come to a four-vote majority between either Bob Lane or Eric Martens, and Martens withdrew from consideration before the meeting.

“We had a full process to go in place and do the process of voting again after asking additional questions, but since he withdrew the motion was made to appoint Bob Lane and Bob had a full unanimous majority to be appointed then to the council. He took that seat immediately after completion of his oath of office.”

The seat will be up for re-election this November. Hear more on today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
