A race to remember a longtime guidance counselor at Pella Christian High School returns this weekend. The 18th Annual Gene Van Wyk 5k Memorial Run/Walk begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m. with packet pickup, followed by announcements at 8:40 am and the race at 9 am on Eagle Lane.

Gene passed away from stomach cancer on April 1st, 1998, and the race is held annually to support Pella Christian High School and to honor his memory. Find registration details here.
