The Newton YMCA is gearing up for its annual open to the public Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday. Children are divided into age groups and there are some random prizes along with the candy filled eggs. The Easter Bunny will also be there, and available to take pictures with children. The hunt itself is held on the YMCA’s soccer fields behind the YMCA building. Newton YMCA Finance Director Andy Karr says Hy-Vee is a co-sponsor.
“They donate 5,000 pre-stuffed eggs, which is greatly appreciated. Then we also have numerous volunteers from our board and community members that will be out there helping scatter the eggs and run crowd control with the kids.”
Karr says about 7,500 eggs will be up for grabs. The Newton YMCA Finance Director talks more about this public event on Today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
