The busy spring sports season on Eagle Lane rolls on today as the Pella Christian track and field and soccer teams are slated to be back in action.
After hosting their Home Coed Invitational on Tuesday night, the Eagles boys and girls track and field squads will run at the Panther Relays in Knoxville tonight. At their home meet Tuesday, the Pella Christian girls took second place with 101 team points, while the boys took fourth with 76 team points. The Panther Relays will also serve as the last chance for the Eagles track and field teams to qualify more events for next week’s running of the 115th annual Drake Relays, before the deadline to submit qualifying times at 6 pm on Friday.
The Pella Christian soccer teams will also be in action tonight, with the boys hosting Des Moines Christian on Eagle Lane and the girls traveling to Urbandale to take on the Lions. Competing for the third time in four days, the Eagle boys enter their contest looking to bounce back from a pair of losses to Knoxville and Dallas Center-Grimes earlier this week. The Des Moines Christian boys come into tonight’s contest with a 2-5 overall record, and have lost their last four games. In Urbandale, the Class 1A #15 Pella Christian girls are also looking for a bounce back contest tonight, after dropping their first game of the season against Class 2A #2 Dallas Center-Grimes on Tuesday. The Class 1A #4 Lions girls squad also enters tonight’s matchup with a 5-1 overall record, winning their first five contests before falling to Class 3A #11 Dowling Catholic on Monday.
The Panther Relays for the Eagles track and field teams is slated to begin this afternoon at 4:15 pm, while Pella Christian’s soccer matches against Des Moines Christian are both slated to start at 5:30 pm.
