18 Central College seniors were added to the school’s state-leading number of National Football Foundation Hampshire Society members on Wednesday.

The Hampshire Society, in its 19th year, recognizes senior football players who are starters or significant reserves and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. The Hampshire Honor Society is a component of the National Football Foundation’s efforts to promote combined athletic and academic success. The NFF’s National Scholar-Athlete Awards program, launched in 1959, was the first to credit a player for academic success, football performance and community leadership.

Cited for the Dutch were wide receivers Brendan Bogaard, Jack Johnson, Logan Mont, and Collin Swantz; safeties Caylor Clark and Reece Miller; linebackers Cael Fiderlein, Joe Jansen, and Reid Pakkebier; offensive linemen Evan Fink, Levi Janssen, and Carson Zitlow; defensive back Gavin Hierseman; tight ends Lane Mueller and Grant Nelson; kicker Logan Sunvold; and defensive linemen Jakie Uthe and Kyler Yarnell.

The Dutch have 158 honorees in the past 17 years, the most in Iowa. Nationwide, 2,532 players from 339 schools were recognized this year, which is the most since its inception. The seniors selected helped lead Central to an 8-2 record last fall.
