The City of Newton is looking at spending over $844,000 on patching various concrete city streets this year. Ten bids were submitted for the 2025 Portland Cement Concrete patching project, with the quotes ranging from $844,299 to $1,263,732. The engineer’s cost estimate was $1,064,018. The patching will occur on sections of six streets, and at the intersection of West 4th Street North and North 19th Avenue West. In addition to patching, the project also includes installing eight ADA-complaint sidewalk ramps, and 268 square yards of pavement widening to improve traffic flow.
Acceptance of the $844,299 low bid from Cedar Falls Construction Company in Waterloo is on the agenda for Monday night’s Newton City Council meeting. The improvements are to be completed by the end of October.
