Indianola Mayor Steve Richardson is asking for the community’s support to help deliver meals to those in need through WeLIFT. Mayor Richardson tells KNIA News many of those in need in the community receive a meal through the Meals on Wheels, however there is additional need for drivers and meals on weekends.

“A lot of people in the community don’t understand is a lot of those folks, whether they are older senior citizens or younger than that but because of certain disabilities they can’t get out, they only get one meal a day through meals on wheels. So there is a real need for drivers to get ahold of WeLIFT and see if they would like to deliver additional meals to these folks whether it’s during the week but particularly the weekends right now are the tough times because no meals are delivered through meals on wheels over the weekend. So these folks sometimes have to scramble for meals on the weekends. So if anybody is interested in maybe volunteering to help WeLIFT they would love to have the opportunity to talk to those folks.”
