The Indianola City Council meets in regular session Monday.
Indianola Mayor Steve Richardson will provide the oath of office to two additional Firefighter/Paramedics Joe Colby and Micah Rice.
Mayor Richardson will also read proclamations regarding Arbor Day and 50125 Day in Indianola. The council will consider a change in the city ordinance to allow the use of recreational fire pits and similar setups in residential properties and discuss Vision 2030 before going into closed session to discuss personnel.
The council will also hold the public hearing on the FY2026 budget, after months of discussion and work with city departments to make up for a $1.8 million projected budget shortfall. The proposed property tax levy rate is 13.43694 per $1,000 of valuation for regular properties within the city, and the council will consider an amendment to city code that would waive any wage increase given towards Indianola City Council members, the Indianola Mayor, and the IMU Board of Trustees.
The meeting begins at 6pm in the city council chambers at Indianola City Hall.
