The Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad hosted its own invitational on Saturday and placed in a tie with Albia for 6th place overall. The Panthers found things tough during the entire tournament. In singles Ezra Schmidt defeated his 1st round opponent Keaton Gee of Albia 8-1, but lost in the quarterfinals to the one seed Easton Moon of North Polk 8-0. Schmidt then moved to the consolation bracket where he played teammate TaShawn Conner and won that match 8-1 before losing to Dakota Deavers 9-7. Conner meanwhile, lost to Will McConnell of North Polk 8-4 in his 1st round match. In doubles, the team of Everett Schmidt and Jayden Szlachetka lost to a duo from Oskaloosa 8-3 while Easton Russell and Jimmy McCormick lost to a team from North Polk 8-2. Knoxville travels to Chariton on Tuesday.
