New lighting for the Aurora Park tennis courts is something the Newton City Council is considering. City staff is soliciting bids for removal of the existing lights and installation of a completely new system. The engineer’s cost estimate for the project is just over $470,000. The public tennis courts at Aurora Park are also used by the Newton High School tennis teams for practice and matches.

As a bid option, city staff is also asking for quotes on adding lights to the new pickleball courts, which are adjacent to the tennis courts.

Bids are due by May 8th and will be the subject of a public hearing and considered by the Newton City Council during their May 19th regular Council meeting.
