The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved the county’s Fiscal Year 26 budget at their meeting on Tuesday.

The board held a public hearing and then approved the budget which will begin July 1st, 2025 and last until June 30th, 2026. The meeting started with a presentation from City of Knoxville Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons regarding the Veterans District land use plan. Lyons spoke about what has been done in the VA District and what development plans are for the future. After the presentation, there was discussion regarding the VA laundry building site and establishing a committee for the building. 

The board also heard a Central Iowa Regional Housing Authority update, took action to not move forward on establishing an engine brake ordinance, approved an upgrade for the courtroom on the third floor of the courthouse, and adopted county elected officials salaries for the upcoming fiscal year. The meeting concluded with approval of the secondary road department budget and the secondary road department five year program.
