A new business in Newton has employees testing items around the world, and is training more people to do it. Alice Poole, who is the Non-Destructive Testing Manager for JDH Inspections Services office in Newton, says the company was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas. She adds that their Newton office is also a training center, teaching people how to do various types of non-destructive testing in several industries all around the world.
“We have manufacturing in India, China, Turkey, Canada, we have projects to go to.”
Poole says the length of training required varies on the type of testing a person is being taught. She adds there is a shortage of workers in this field, as many are retiring. Poole came to Newton in 2010 to work at the TPI Composites wind blade manufacturing plant. The Newton office and training center she leads is at Legacy Plaza. It has been open for three weeks, and just had a ribbon-cutting with the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce. Training is currently underway, and Poole says more sessions will begin in mid-May.
