It was another trip to victory lane at Knoxville for Rico Abreu. The California driver won for the second straight week on Saturday taking the lead on a restart early in the 410 A-Main to get his win. Like last week, it seemed Abreu would run away and hide as he had a nearly three second lead on Aaron Reutzel, but Reutzel found something on the top and nearly ran down Abreu at the line. The Pro Sprints and 360s held their season openers and a familiar face was in victory lane in the Pro series as Matthew Stelzer out dueled Devin Kline to get the win. Stelzer credited Kline for keeping the racing hard but clean.
Stelzer: “I have the most respect for Devin and he’s a top talent driver in this class, and that’s what I expect top talent to do, and he’s going to be up here this year”
It took Reutzel a few laps in the 360s to get to the front, but when he did, he stayed there as the race went caution free. J.J. Hickle led early then Tasker Phillips got the point, then Reutzel passed Phillips and after a few laps of battle pulled away. Next Saturday is another weekly show. Live coverage begins with Live Track Side at 5:00 and Race Nights Live at 7:00.
