The City of Knoxville is holding a draft plan open house for their comprehensive plan on Wednesday, May 7th.
This is an opportunity for citizens to provide their thoughts on the initial draft on Knoxville’s comprehensive plan. You can attend this open house to learn about the proposed plan, previous input that has shaped the work, and how the city is preparing for action, help refine the plan content including goals and strategies, and engage in activities to help share feature growth areas. The event will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Knoxville Public Library in which attendees can stop by any time.
At last Monday’s Knoxville City Council meeting the council heard an update on the comprehensive plan and City Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons shared updates on the process. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says a significant point of the presentation was the growth that Knoxville has seen in housing recently.
“513 new housing units over the last few years is huge for Knoxville. Five years ago we were averaging about five homes a year and so that is a huge growth for Knoxville. That is a 74% increase in multi-family units and a 56% increase in rentals.”
