A Knoxville juvenile has been charged with threat and terrorism and harassment after the Knoxville Police Department responded to a school threat Friday afternoon.

On Friday, four calls were made to 911, with two of them involving a threat of a gun at the school property. The threat was later deemed not credible and the student who made the calls was questioned and admitted to the threat. The student has been transported to a juvenile detention facility, where they face charges of Threat of Terrorism and Harassment First Degree.

A statement from Superintendent Cassi Pearson on Friday stated:

“Today, at 3:07 PM Knoxville School District was contacted by local law enforcement regarding a 911 call that reported a potential threat to our campus. In accordance with our safety protocols, we immediately initiated a lockdown for KHS, KMS and West Elementary.

Thanks to the swift response and collaboration with the Knoxville Police Department, the potential threat was deemed as not credible. Authorities were able to identify the individual responsible for the call, and an investigation is now underway.

We are incredibly grateful for the rapid action of our local police department, the cooperation of our staff, and the calm and responsible behavior of our students. Everyone followed our safety procedures exactly as trained, helping to ensure the safety of all individuals on campus.”
