Taxpayers in the Newton School District will see no change in the school’s tax levy rate for the coming fiscal year. Monday night, Newton School Board members unanimously approved a 2026 budget that leaves the rate at $15.86 per one thousand dollars of assessed valuation, which will generate just under $15.9 million in property tax revenue. State Aid for the coming year will be $25.4 million dollars, pushing the Newton School District’s total revenue to $53.7 million. The District’s ending fund balance at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year is projected to be $17.1 million, compared to $19.1 million at the end of this current school year.
