
Pella Christian Boys Golf Wins Four Meet of the Season
The Pella Christian boys golf team captured their fourth first place finish in six meets this season on Monday, clearing the field by nine strokes at the PCM Invitational at Gateway Recreation Golf Course.
Battling strong winds in Monroe, the Eagles shot 301 as a team to best second place Des Moines Christian’s score of 310 on the day, while the hosts took third at 315. In the field of 64 individual golfers, Pella Christian had five players finish inside the top ten. The Eagles were led by Eliot Menninga, who took the meet’s medalist honors with a 69, and was just one stroke shy of the school record. Not far behind Menninga on the leaderboard was Deacon Branderhorst and Carter Brand, who each carded a 77 to finish in 4th and 6th place respectively. Also finishing in the top ten for the Eagles on the day were Landon Fransman and Cooper Spronk, who took eighth and ninth place with 78’s, the third time in four meets the two seniors had matching scores. Rounding out the varsity lineup for Pella Christian at the meet was Connor Van Zee in 41st place with a 95.
The Eagles boys golf team has a quick turnaround, competing in the 15-team Oskaloosa Invite at Edmundson Golf Course today at 1 pm.
Pella Christian Boys Track and Field Takes 3rd, Girls Finish 6th at the Tulip Time Relays
Making the short trip across town Monday night, the Pella Christian boys track and field team took third place and the girls squad finished in sixth place at the Tulip Time Relays at Pella High School.
Competing in their first of two meets in as many days, the Eagle boys won two events and had three second place finishes, while the girls squad won three events. Pella Christian swept both 100m dashes on the night, with Adam Kacmarynski (12.02) winning the boys race and older sister Rachel Kacmarynski (13.23) and Lexi Terpstra (13.63) taking first and second in the girls race. The Eagles boys team added an event victory from Sawyer Meinders (4:49.76) in the 1600m run, while the girls team got event wins from Bailey Vos in the 200m Dash (25.97) and the 4x100m relay team of Terpstra, Amaia Agre, Claire Westerkamp, and Meredith Van Wyk (49.83). The Pella Christian boys added second place finishes from Dean De Ronde in the 3200m run (11:26.83), Brecken Ritzert in the long jump (20’ 1.5”), and 4×100 meter relay team of Landon Nunnikhoven, Ritzert, Caleb Volk, and Kacmarynski (44.86).

The Eagles Track and Field Teams are slated to be back in action this afternoon at different meets at 4:30 pm, with the boys competing at the EBF Boys Rocket Relays at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and the girls running at the Charger Relays at Chariton.
