For those wanting to fish in a variety of bodies of water in South Central Iowa this year, there are fishing requirements in place by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Anyone 16 years of age or older wanting to fish in Iowa is required to purchase a fishing license that can be purchased online here or through more than 700 local retailers. Some licenses may require a trout fee. Conservation or law enforcement officers can request to see a license along with the owner or person in legal control of that location. For 2025, resident fishing licenses are $22, with a trout fee costing $14.50. Anglers may also purchase several different licenses including bonus lines, lifetime licenses, and hunting/fishing combos. Non-resident licenses are $48.
