A Sully woman’s sentencing in a felony insurance fraud case has been delayed until May 6th. District Associate Judge Steven Holwerda has granted a continuance motion for the sentencing hearing of 47-year-old Antonia Leah Maddison. She pled guilty to fraudulent submission of an insurance application with intent to defraud, a class D felony. Jasper County District Court documents state Maddison intended to defraud Progressive Northern Insurance Company by applying for insurance on her teenage son and his vehicle, after he was involved in an accident on February 24th of last year. The Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau says Maddison added her son and his vehicle to her insurance policy four days later, in an attempt to obtain coverage for his accident. The Bureau filed the felony charge in mid September of last year. Judge Holwerda accepted Maddison’s guilty plea in late March, and has extended her sentencing hearing into May due to a conflict with another court contested matter.
