The Newton Community School District and the Newton Community Education Association have approved a new contract for the 2025-2026 school year. Newton Community School District Director of Business Services Tim Bloom says the overall package increase for the district’s teachers next school year is 3.22%, which includes a 2.86% hike in pay.

“We did budget 3% in our budget for wage increases. But you can see the 2.86%, which is actually 2.88% when you add the salary supplement stuff for coaching stipends as well as the increase in our insurance costs for medical and dental.”

With approval of the labor agreement, Bloom says teacher contracts for next school year will be mailed out by the end of the week.
