The Newton boys and girls tennis teams return to the courts today, while the girls golf and girls soccer teams are also back in action.

The Cardinals tennis teams will square off with Dallas Center-Grimes, with the girls hosting the Mustangs and the boys traveling to Grimes. The Newton girls are 2-5 this season after falling at Pella Christian Tuesday, while the boys are 3-5 after Tuesday’s 8-3 win over the Eagles on senior night. Both tennis matches against Dallas Center-Grimes are scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m.

The Cardinals girls golf team will participate against twelve other teams in the Linda Bloom Girls Golf Invitational at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown. The Newton girls played nine holes against Colfax-Mingo in Colfax on Tuesday, and defeated the Tigerhawks 207 to 231. The Cardinals had the top four golfers with Eva Pak shooting a 51, and Addie Ratcliff, Evie Main, and Johana Cerna all scoring 52. Addison Hook and Kalleigh Berndt also played for Newton, finishing with scores of 55 and 56 respectively. The Linda Bloom Girls Golf Invitational in Marshalltown is slated to begin today at 10 a.m.

The Cardinals girls soccer team hopes to get back in the win column tonight against Des Moines East. Newton lost 10-0 to #2 Dallas Center-Grimes at home Tuesday dropping their overall record to 6-5-1 on the spring.  The Cardinals girls soccer team’s match at Williams Stadium in Des Moines against the Scarlets is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.
