The Pella High School cross country program was well-represented at the 32nd annual Klompen Classic on Wednesday. The annual race that kicks off Tulip Time festivities was won by Pella State Champion distance runners Canaan Dunham and Marissa Ferebee, both of whom grew up competing in the race. This was the second consecutive year for Canaan, who also broke the event record by running his 5K in 14:58.

There was another record number of registrants for the 2025 race, according to Chris Allen with Crossroads of Pella. A total of 2648 participants crossed the finish line to help others through the non-profit organization that provides a wide range of services to Pella-area residents.
