
Three Indianola varsity spring sports teams were in action Thursday.
The Indianola boys track and field team earned four first place finishes at Waukee Northwest, with no team scores kept at the meet. Deacon Jacobs won the 400m, Lathan McDaniel the Shot Put, and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Vinnie Anderson, Andrew DeWall, Kaisen Storm, and Easton McGraw, as well as the 4x200m team of Anderson, Asher Brueck, Luke Gordon, and Daxton Heimbaugh both won. Indianola next competes in the Little Hawkeye Conference meet at Dallas Center-Grimes on Thursday.
The #14 Indianola girls soccer team won a close match on the road at Des Moines Lincoln, dispatching the Railsplitters 2-1. Lauren Burk and Ella Trotter both found the back of the net for the Indians, with Rylee Burns earning an assist. Indianola is now 7-4 on the season, and matches up with Pella on Tuesday.
The #7 in class 3A Indianola boys soccer team fell to #4 in class 4A Johnston 1-0 on the road. The Indians and Dragons were locked into a defensive battle, but Johnston scored on a corner kick with just five minutes remaining, and the Indians couldn’t equalize. Indianola is now 7-4-1 on the season, and will host Dowling on Monday.
