Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed House File 645 which protects racing facilities in the state from nuisance actions.

Knoxville Raceway General Manger Jason Reed worked with a lobbyist group on this legislation which protects Iowa racetracks from nuisance lawsuits regarding noise, dirt, etc. Reed sent this idea to all tracks in Iowa and allowed them to sign in support of this bill if they wanted to join the cause. Reed tells KNIA/KRLS that Knoxville Raceway has not had any issues with this but he knows of other tracks having this issue.

The bill states, A racing facility or racetrack shall not be subject to any action brought by a surrounding property owner under any nuisance, taking, or other theory if the racing facility or racetrack was built before the surrounding real property owner either purchased the real property or built in the area of the racing facility or racetrack.
