There will be no motorcycle nights in Newton this June, July, and August. Newton American Legion Post 111 is taking over what’s called “Thunder Nites”, from Newton Main Street. But to allow for more time and resources to successfully transition the events and ensure a high quality experience for the community and those who attend, the Legion Post has cancelled this year’s schedule. Along with the change in operation, Thunder Nites will also be moving from Newton’s downtown square, to the street in front of the American Legion.

In a statement announcing the decision to postpone the next Thunder Nites event until 2026, the Newton American Legion says every possible option was explored to move forward with this year’s schedule. However, it was determined a pause for this year was the most responsible choice and a necessary step toward making Thunder Nites stronger than ever, with renewed energy and updates for 2026.
