Getting nine days to rest up for the final stretch of the season, the Pella Christian boys track and field team is looking to finish the season strong.

The Eagles, whose 4x100m team of Landon Nunnikhoven, Brecken Ritzert, Caleb Volk, and Adam Kacmarynski ran at the Drake Relays last week, are hoping to add more qualifiers for the State Meet coming up later this month. One area that Pella Christian head coach Keith Anderson is excited about the potential to get to Drake Stadium is the distance races.

“We’ve got some fun things happening there on the distance side that I haven’t had for a while. I’ve had a runner here or there, but we’ve got three, four, five runners now that we can maybe put together a nice 4x800m. We know what Sawyer Meinders can do in the two mile and the mile, but I think they’re going to surprise some people, with maybe getting some events there that we maybe didn’t have on our radar at the beginning of the season.”

The Eagles boys track and field team returns to action on Thursday, traveling to Dallas Center-Grimes for the Little Hawkeye Conference meet.
