The Simpson College baseball team fell to the University of Dubuque Friday night and will play a doubleheader today with an American Rivers Conference Tournament berth on the line.

The Storm and Spartans were tied 1-1 heading into the sixth inning Friday and the Storm jumped out to a 3-1 lead after a Bryson Gibson RBI single and a Dalton Ferrin sacrifice bunt. Dubuque then took the lead in the seventh putting up three runs and then scored two more in the ninth to win the contest 6-3. Simpson starting pitcher Trey Castile worked 6 ⅓ innings giving up seven hits, one earned run, and picked up nine strikeouts. The Storm had eight hits in the contest with Gibson and Ian Baldwin recording two each.

Simpson falls to 15-21 overall and 9-13 in conference play. The Storm will need to win both games against the Spartans today to extend their season and earn a trip to the American Rivers Conference tournament. You can catch all of the action on 94.3 KNIA with the first game starting at 2:00 pm.
