The Simpson College baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against the University of Dubuque at home on Saturday to earn a trip to the American Rivers Conference tournament heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Storm needed to win both games on Saturday to keep their season alive and with their backs against the wall they did just that which made for a special senior day. Nine seniors on the Simpson baseball team were honored before the game and the team then went and delivered on the field. In game one the Storm trailed 3-1 through four innings but put up five runs in a lopsided fifth frame to break the game open. The Storm then added three more runs in the seventh while Dubuque put up two more in the eighth but it was ultimately Simpson picking up the 9-5 win. Eli Feekin picked up the win on the mound in game one pitching 7 ⅓ innings and recording seven strikeouts.

In game two the Storm led 3-1 heading into the fifth and then put up one run in the fifth, one run in the sixth, and three runs in the seventh. Dubuque scored two in the ninth but Simpson held on for the 8-3 win to continue their season.
