The Newton boys golf team had one player finish inside the top fifty at the Washington Invitational Monday as the team placed 11th in the 18 school field. The Cardinals’ top four golfers of Jackson Price, Lincoln Peterson, Ethan Pageler, and Mason Smith combined for a score of 345. Waverly-Shell Rock won the invitational with 308 strokes. 

Price finished 7th for Newton out of 115 golfers with a 79. Peterson’s 86 put him 50th while Pageler was 51st with an 87. Smith shot a 90 and finished 87th. Peyton Rozendaal and Carter Forst both used 96 strokes to cover Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, and placed 79th and 80th.

The next event for the Cardinal boys golf team is Thursday’s Colfax-Mingo Invitational at Colfax Country Club.
