Coming off of Tulip Time this past weekend, the Pella Christian boys golf team took 4th place at the 18-team Washington Invitational Monday, while the boys tennis team swept Oskaloosa 11-0.

Competing at Blue Top Ridge Golf Resort in Riverside, the Eagles boys golf squad shot 326 as a team. The meet also served as the third leg of the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season race, and Pella Christian extended their lead over second place Pella to 13 strokes. The Eagles were bunched closely together in scoring for the day, with Deacon Branderhorst leading the way with a +8 over par 80. Eliot Menninga wasn’t far behind Branderhorst, shooting a +9 over par 81, and those scores were good for 12th and 17th places respectively. Cooper Spronk recorded +10 over par 82 and Carter Brand shot an +11 over par 83 to wrap up Pella Christian’s scoring on the day. Landon Fransman and Connor VanZee rounded out the Eagles lineup with an 84 and 87.

On Eagle Lane, the Pella Christian boys tennis team swept Oskaloosa with little resistance. In singles play, Aaron Meinders and Rob Schreur swept the top two spots in the lineup 6-0, 6-0. The Eagles added singles victories from Kirby Van Wyngarden at #3 (2-6, 7-5, 1-0), Rhett Terpstra at #4 (6-2, 6-3), Evan Tschetter at #5 (6-3, 7-5), and Jonathan Van Gorp at #6 (6-1, 6-4). Pella Christian completed the sweep with doubles wins from Meinders and Van Wyngarden at #1 (6-3, 6-2), Schreur and Terpstra at #2 (6-1, 6-0), Van Gorp and Johnson Morgan at #3 (6-1, 6-0), Tschetter and Liam Zula at #4 (6-0, 6-0), and Clay Lauterbach and Gerrit Vande Zande at #5 (6-3, 6-3).

The Eagles boys tennis team returns to the courts this afternoon at Chariton at 4:15 pm, while the boys golf team is off until competing at the Colfax-Mingo Invitational Thursday.
