
The Pella Girls Golf team placed 1st on Monday night in a quad with Knoxville, PCM, and Saydel at Knoxville with a team score of 180. Leading scores were Harper Phillips, Medalist (39), Carlyn Henry, Runner-Up Medalist (44), Moriah Reynolds (48), Izzy Branderhorst (49), and Emerson Lee (49).
It was a split against strong competition for the Dutch boys tennis team in Marshalltown. No. 8 in 1A Pella defeated North Polk by a 9-2 margin, but fell to No. 9 in 2A Marshalltown 8-3 (6-3 in state scoring). Jordan Shaffer was the lone Dutch singles player to find victory in both duals, and the doubles duo of Trevin Sutton and Maddox Jones swept their two doubles matches.
Pella’s No. 12 in 2A girls soccer team finished in its first tie of the 2025 spring season, matching No. 4 in 1A Des Moines Christian’s score of three on Monday at the Pella Sports Park. Bri Shannon scored twice and JJ Braafhart had the third tally. Maddie Holland made a save on a PK attempt to keep the game even. Pella moves to 3-6-1 overall and hosts Indianola this evening.
The Pella boys soccer team could not find the back of the net but hung tough with No. 1 in Class 3A Dallas Center-Grimes on the road Monday, falling 3-0. Head Coach Will Foskett says his team defended hard but couldn’t generate much attack against the Mustangs. Carter Gilmer made several saves to keep the game in arms’ reach as well. The now 5-3-4 Dutch are on the road to Indianola.
Pella’s boys golf team was 5th in a strong field of teams at the Washington Boys Golf Invitational in Riverside. Freshman Anderson Dana had the low stick for the Dutch with a 79, followed by Gabe Clark’s 81, Griffin Simpson’s 82, and KJ Besick and Landon Reynolds each carding an 83.
