A Jasper County District Court Judge has given an Illinois woman who stole a vehicle and eluded officers in Illinois, a two year suspended prison term and two years probation. Judge David Faith also fined 26-year-old Hannah Kroesch $855.
An Iowa State Patrol Officer took the Herscher, Illinois woman into custody without incident on March 31st, after coming across a stolen SUV parked along Interstate 80 westbound, two miles east of the Jasper/Polk County line. Kroesch was in the vehicle, which had a flat front tire. She was originally charged with 1st degree theft, a class C felony. But she entered a negotiated guilty plea to operating a vehicle without owner’s consent, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.
