The first in-person Des Moines Area Community College presidential search forum was held Tuesday morning at the Newton DMACC Campus. The Board of Directors for DMACC are beginning the search for the community college’s fifth president. The presidential search committee is chaired by the vice chair of the Des Moines Area Community College Board of Directors, Kevin Halterman. He says they are attempting to engage campus members and community partners and stakeholders with the in-person campus forums and one on-line session. Campus forums were also held yesterday in Des Moines and Ankeny, and are taking place today in Boone and Carrol. Halterman says information collected from the forums will go into the presidential search profile that establishes the characteristics sought in DMACC’s next president.
DMACC has a website dedicated to the presidential search at president.dmacc.edu. The next president of Des Moines Area Community College will begin that role January 1st, 2026, following the retirement of 22 year president Rob Denson.
