Origin Homes will build ten new homes in Knoxville’s Veterans District.

At Monday’s Knoxville City Council meeting the council held a public hearing and approved the sale of the lots along with the purchase agreement, development agreement, and a letter of support for Origin’s workforce housing tax credit application. Origin currently has homes in ten lots in the VA District which they received the housing tax credit for. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says that now 30 of the 34 lots in phase one of the Veterans District have been purchased, which is faster than the city thought.

“That’s very exciting for us as we look forward to the number of lots left. Approving these ten lots would leave four lots left which would be 30 of the 34 lots sold in just a couple of years so that took a lot quicker than we imagined so we are very thankful for that.”

Origin is a West Des Moines based company and will build five of these homes in Fiscal Year 26 and five in Fiscal Year 27.
