Girls And Boys Soccer Travel To Centerville Tonight
Two chances for wins in Centerville are on the table for the Knoxville Soccer Squads tonight. The girls head to play the Redettes still looking for their first win of the season. The Panthers have been close in a few matches of late and have not been in action since losing to Atlantic 2-0 last Friday. Centerville is 0-8-2 this season and have scored five goals while Knoxville’s Remy Vasquez-Smith has nearly equalled Centerville herself with four. Goalkeeper Addi Williams has stopped 207 shots, which put her 4th in the state regardless of class. Coach Bethany Johnson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports she has got great response from her upperclassmen on leading the younger players.
Johnson: “I know this year is a rebuilding year for us and it’s not the same team as last year obviously. My upperclassmen have done a great job of letting the younger players know what to do, and we all work together.”
The boys will follow at Paul Johnson Field in Centerville and the Panthers will be heavily favored over a 1-11-1 Big Reds. The Panthers got a measure of revenge on Monday night in a 4-0 win over Chariton and come in at 8-1-3 on the season. Knoxville has scored 37 goals this season to Centerville seven with Knoxville’s Kaison Wilder equalling Centerville’s scoring himself. The girls are set for 5:30 while the boys will follow about 20:00 after.
