
A competitive team race went the way of Newton at the 2025 Little Hawkeye Conference boys tennis tournament hosted at Pella High School on Wednesday.
The Cardinals (42 team points) narrowly defeated Norwalk (38 team points) and longtime conference champions Pella (36) to earn the tournament title. The Warriors were recognized for winning the regular season crown at the event.
Newton was led by Ethan Valtman, who won the Flight One Singles Championship in a tiebreaker match with Pella’s Nile Rozenboom. Jordan Schaffer of Pella was the Flight Two Singles Champion.
Indianola’s top duo of Bryson Rehmeier and Eli Chadwick won the conference championship in Flight One doubles, defeating Newton’s duo of Kaiden Marshall and Ethan Friese.
Norwalk earned a conference mark with Lane Jurgens and Eli Mills claiming the Flight Two Doubles championship. They did so with a rally from begind against Pella Christian’s Rob Schreur and Rhett Terpstra.
