The Norwalk girls golfers placed second out of 14 teams at Thursday’s Southeast Polk Invite at Copper Creek. Gilbert won the tournament with a team score of 322, followed by Norwalk and Waukee Northwest with a 337 and Marshalltown’s 341. It was the Warriors’ best finish ever at the Southeast Polk meet.

Sophomore Evelyn Kinney paced Norwalk with a round of 80, placing eighth in the medalist standings. Senior Mariola Torro Abad shot an 84 and placed 11th. Additional Norwalk scores included Lydia Krueger with an 86 and Ava Garvey’s 87. The Warriors return to the links on Monday for the third and final Little Hawkeye Conference Meet of the season at Oskaloosa.

Boys Soccer in action tonight

The Norwalk boys soccer team will host the fifth-ranked team in Class 4A tonight when they play Dowling Catholic at 7:30. The Class 3A fourth-ranked Warriors have won their last two games, improving to 6-5-2 overall.
