
Multiple Indianola spring sports teams were in action Friday.
The Indianola boys and girls soccer teams both shut out Pella Christian in Little Hawkeye Conference play, the girls winning 4-0 and the boys 3-0.
Earning goals for the #14 girls included Bri Cornell, Cam Palmer, Lauren Burk, and Elyvia Meachem, with Rylee Burns earning a pair of assists, while the defense smothered the Eagles throughout the contest. Indianola is now 8-5-1 and 3-2 in conference, and will host Norwalk on Tuesday.
The boys saw three goals scored all in the first half from Allan Martinez, Hunter Chittenden, and Jacob Chickering as the Indians held possession and held off any Eagles attacks with a scoreless second half. Indianola improves to 9-5-1 on the season and 4-1 in conference, and will next play rival Norwalk on the road Tuesday.
The Indianola girls tennis squad split a triangular at Waukee Northwest, falling to the host Wolves 11-0, but pulled out a 6-5 victory over Urbandale. Zoey Belt, Maci Lerseth, Lauren Danielson, and Chloe Chaplin won in singles play, while the doubles teams of Emily Allen/Belt, and Lerseth/Danielson earned wins to secure the victory. Indianola next competes in regionals on Monday at Norwalk.
The Indianola boys tennis team placed 4th at the North Polk Invitational, scoring 3.5 points. Indianola next competes in district singles and doubles on Wednesday at Marshalltown.
