The Newton boys golf team traveled to Ames Saturday to compete in the nine team Gilbert Invite. The Cardinals produced a score of 315 at the Ames Golf and Country Club and placed fifth, 20 strokes behind Gilbert’s winning total of 295.

Jackson Price led Newton with a 76, which put him in a four-way tie for 11th. Lane Rozendaal placed 15th with a 78, while Mason Smith’s 80 put him in a three-way tie for 21st. Peyton Rozendaal shot an 81, Lincoln Peterson an 83, and Ethan Pageler a 93. They respectively tied for 24th, 34th, and 53rd.

The Cardinals boys golf team will host the second Little Hawkeye Conference Golf Meet at Westwood Golf Course at 1:00 p.m. Monday .
