Pella Girls Tennis Qualifies Four for Individual State Tournament
A tradition continued for the Pella girls tennis team as the Dutch sent three total entries to the Class 1A state singles and doubles tournament at the regional site hosted in Pella Monday. Claire Smock was the regional champion in the singles bracket, defeating teammate Abby Hietbrink in the finals as both advance to the final 16. The doubles pairing of Sydney Namminga and Kytilin Plate were runners up and also advance to the round of 16. Reagan De Jong and Addison Van Wyk placed 3rd in the same bracket and will be the state meet alternates. Pella next moves to team regional competition on Friday at home.

Lyons Earns Conference Title as Pella Places 3rd in Little Hawkeye Conference Girls Golf Series
The Pella Girls Golf Team placed 3rd in the Little Hawkeye Conference after the completion of the Conference Tournament in Oskaloosa on Monday. The Dutch carded a 354 on the final day of the full tournament.

The team was led by Medalist Karsyn Lyons, who scored an 80 at the meet. Karsyn earned the title of the Little Hawkeye Conference Individual Champion for 2025, winning all three conference meets. Harper Phillips was awarded 6th place, and all-conference honors for this year as well.

Other leading scores were Izzy Branderhorst (90), Emerson Lee (91), and Carlyn Henry (93).

Dutch Boys Golf Take Second in 2025 League Series
Pella’s boys golfers placed 2nd out of four spring teams in the four-meet conference series in 2025. Pella scored 1277, including 318 on the final day Monday at Westwood in Newton. KJ Besick earned All-Tournament First Team honors, placing 2nd individually over the four meets with a 306 total score. Gabe Clark with a 2nd team honoree with a 323 and 6th place individual placement.

Dutch Celebrate Seniors Ahead of Thursday’s District Track and Field Meet
The Pella track and field teams had their final regular season meet at home Monday in the Pella Co-Ed Relays. No team scores were kept as the Dutch highlighted the Class of 2025 and the depth of their program in multiple events as the postseason roster largely prepared for Thursday’s district meet in Winterset.

Harrison Mullens broke a school record in the 200 meter dash at 21.91 and the boys shuttle hurdle relay did so as well for a second consecutive meet as Levi Shetterly, Logan VanDenBroek, Ben O’Halloran, and Caiden Johnson raced to a time of 58.45.
