Final plans for a small paving project on the Jasper/Mahaska County Line were approved by the Jasper County Board of Supervisors Tuesday. Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says a tenth of a mile of paving is being added by Co-Line Manufacturing on South 128th Avenue East, just west of County Highway T-33.
“We have Rise grant funding that will cover 50% of the cost, both design and construction. We will be splitting the remaining cost with Mahaska County.”
Frietsch believes the most amount of money Jasper and Mahaska County will each have to come up with is $100,000. Once completed, the new pavement will extend past new Co-Line facilities. The Lynnville Company has a $4.25 million expansion in Mahaska County that’s expected to create at least 25 new jobs.
