The Iowa Senate passed a bipartisan bill regarding eminent domain late Monday, limiting the ability of carbon sequestration pipelines to use eminent domain to build their pipelines across the state. State Representative Brooke Boden tells KNIA News she was in favor of the bill from the start and helped lead its passage through the Iowa House, and she is happy the Senate took up the bill.

“I’m a very strong supporter of property rights, I’m one that is on the lawsuit making sure that we do what is right for our property owners, and I’m glad to see the Senate actually take a vote for the people and it’s my hope that we stand strong for property rights and what should be done here in the State of Iowa.”

Senator Julian Garrett voted in favor of the bill, which passed 27-22. The bill now heads to the desk of Governor Reynolds.
