An eastern Iowa company is going to be replacing the gutters and downspouts at the Jasper County Jail and put in a new roof hatch on the County Courthouse. Beckwith Commercial Roofing of Clinton submitted a bid that was $20,000 lower than quotes from two companies in Altoona and Atlantic. Jasper County Maintenance Director Adam Sparks told the Jasper County Board of Supervisors he’s confident the low bidder can do a good job.
“I have no problem with them doing it. I met all three companies on site to look over the project and felt very comfortable with them, very reputable. “
According to Sparks, the current gutters on the Jasper County jail are the original ones installed when the facility was built in 2005. He adds the quotes from Beckwith are $11,000 lower than what was budgeted for, which will free up money for other projects.
