The Pleasantville boys and girls track and field teams will compete in their Class 2A state qualifier meet at PCM High School today.

The Trojans are coming off their last regular season meet of the season at home on Monday where the boys team finished first and the girls took fifth. The Trojans have a few entries that are poised to qualify for the state track and field meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines next week. Here are some of the events to watch in which Pleasantville has potential qualifiers in the top three — the top two from each race automatically earn a trip to the finals, while eight at large events advance based on times or distances compared across the state (please note athletes can compete in a maximum of four events, and may not end up qualifying in the races below):

Pleasantville Girls State Qualifying Contenders:

100 Meter Hurdles – Lauren Furnal (3rd – 15.91)

4X100 Meter Relay – (3rd – 50.94)

4X400 Meter Relay – (3rd – 4:14.77)

Shuttle Hurdle Relay – (1st – 1:08.82)

The state qualifying meet will feature 12 total teams and start at 4:30 pm.
