The Newton School District’s Summer Food Program starts in June and will feature a one day a week pick-up at Newton High School. District Food Service Supervisor Julie Miller says this type of distribution has been done in the past.
“At Newton High School we will have a grab and go pick-up similar to what was done during COVID. Parents drove through the parking lot. That’s what we will be doing this year.”
Parents will get five breakfasts and five lunches at one time for each child between the age of one and eighteen. Miller says the food is first come, first served, and the distribution will be on Thursdays starting at 9 a.m.. Students in summer school and at the YMCA Day Camp will get fed at Emerson Hough Elementary school each day. There are no income requirements to participate in the Newton School District’s Summer Food Program.
