A flag raising was held Thursday morning at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville ahead of Memorial Day.
A group of veterans, their families, and community members came out to the cemetery to place flags along the road and then a ceremony was held consisting of the three volley salute and taps. The Veterans plot at Graceland Cemetery has a new look for this Memorial Day as the white aluminum crosses were made by Sean Sanger’s manufacturing class at Knoxville High School. The new grave markers were purchased by the Marion County Veterans Commission. The flags will be taken down on Tuesday at 3:00 pm and the Knoxville American Legion is seeking community members to help.
