The City of Newton will host a free picnic on Friday for city employees. Mayor Evelyn George says it’s a way to show city workers that their efforts are appreciated. 

“It’s fun to be able to thank them for what they do. Just like public service, sometimes you feel a little  unappreciated. 

Newton city employees will be presented special years of service awards at the picnic as well. The fourth Annual Newton City Employee Picnic, hosted by the Employee Recognition Committee, will be held at the Maytag Park Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.
